In the year 1974, a Hungarian sculptor and professor of architecture Ernő Rubik invented a three-dimensional combination puzzle and it is known as The Rubik’s Cube. The puzzle was originally licensed by Rubik to be sold by Ideal Toy Corp in the year 1980’ via businessman Tibor Laczi and Seven Towns’ founder Tom Kremer. The Rubik’s Cube was originally known as the Magic cube. German Game of the Year special award for Best Puzzle was won by the Rubik’s Cube for the year 1980. Till the end of the year, 2009 more than 350 million Rubik’s cubes have been sold. Worldwide making it the most sold puzzle game.
The Rubik’s cube is considered as the world’s best-selling toy!
In the classic Rubik’s Cube, sir Ernő Rubik covered each of the six faces with nine stickers each of one of six solid colors: white, red, blue, orange, green, and yellow. After a few years of the new version of the Rubik’s Cube. They updated it to use colored plastic panels instead because it couldn’t be peeled or torn. As of now sold models, white is opposite of yellow, blue is the opposite of green. And orange is the opposite of red, and the red, white, and blue are arranged in a clockwise manner. Earlier, when the cube was just launched, the position of the colors varied from cube to cube.
An internal pivot mechanism of cube enables each face of the cube to turn independently, thus mixing up the colors. For the cube to be solved, each of the faces must be returned to have only one color. Similar puzzles have now been produced with various numbers of sides, dimensions, and stickers, not all of them uphold the principles ofSir Ernő Rubik‘s cube. Although the Rubik’s Cube reached the pinnacle of popularity in the 1980s. It is still widely known worldwide and used worldwide as well. What’s wondrously surprising is that the website www.rubiks.com gives you the solution of any cube in at most 20 steps if you put in it the position of the colors on your cube!
